Rjc Puck-Compression Test Fixture
The Puck-Compression Rjc Fixture is designed for Rjc testing of discrete power devices in various "hockey puck" style cylindrical packages. Such devices utilize their mounting pads as both electrical and thermal pathways and require cooling to both top and bottom surfaces. In addition, compression forces of up to 10 kpounds (45 kNt) are required as specfied in these applications. The Rjc Puck-Compression fixture provides all of the fixturing requirements for these types of device packages.
The Puck-Compression Test Fixture consists of three heavy gauge nickel-plated steel plates - a fixed base plate, a fixed top plate, and a floating mid-plate. There is an electrically-isolated liquid-cooled cold-plate attached to the upper fixed plate, and another electrically-isolated liquid-cooled cold-plate attached to the floating mid-plate. The device-under-test is ‘sandwiched between these two cold-plates during testing.
Compression forces are applied to the underside of the floating middle plate by a hydraulic cylinder. A hydraulic hand pump is connected to this cylinder and supplies the required hydraulic pressure.
