High-Voltage LED Amplifier
When testing LEDs with forward voltages higher than 5V, the LED-Hi-V Amplifier provides high accuracy and convenient test capabilities. This amplifier can be used to test LEDs with forward voltages up to 28 volts, and provides 4 Tj sense channels with a selection of 1mA and 5mA nominal sense currents. The amplifier is completely plug-compatible with all Analysis Tech thermal test fixtures and Breakout Boards so that amplifier usage is totally transparent: all of the same procedures and test-wiring are used with or without the amplifier. Once the amplifier has been plugged into the Tj sense ribbon cable and the amplifier has been set to the approximate level of the LED forward voltage, all normal Tj calibration and test procedures are used. The test connectors on the amplifier use different sexes so that mis-connection is impossible.
Since the Thermal Analyzer has a Tj forward voltage upper limit of 5 volts, this amplifier is needed when testing LEDs with higher forward voltages. The design of this amplifier maximizes the Tj forward voltage measurement sensitivity for optimal test accuracy. The four channel design assumes a common cathode connection on the devices under test. Indicator LEDs in the amplifier clearly display either incorrect LED range-setting or incorrect connection to the device under test. Each of the 4 channels can be independently set to either 1mA or 5mA (nominal) Tj sense current levels. The LED-Hi-V Amplifier is supplied complete and ready to to begin immediate testing. Simple instructions ensure ease and convenience of operation. The amplifier requires AC power and is available in either 110 or 220VAC models. The LED-Hi-V Amplifier can also be provided with higher forward voltage rating, with alternate Tj sense current selections, or with additional Tj sense channels upon request.
