32EHD Event Detector Patch-Panel Kit:
Flexible Interconnect System for 32EHD Event Detectors
The 32EHD Patch Panel Kit provides a convenient means for connecting test samples to the 32EHD Event Detector by acting as an interface between the 10' coaxial test input cables supplied with the 32EHD Event Detector and short, flexible coaxial "pigtails" that connect directly to the test samples. The 32EHD Patch Panel Kit provides high quality mechanical strain relief as well excellent electrical integrity. The 32EHD Event Detector is supplied with (32) RG-223/U coaxial cables, 10 feet in length, with a BNC connector on both ends. These cables offer a high degree of shielding, but are generally not well suited for direct attachment to the test samples given that they are relatively large (0.25" dia.), and stiff. The 32EHD Patch Panel Kit includes two (2) aluminum panels, each with 16 female/female BNC bulkhead connectors (shown in the photo), and 32 small, flexible coaxial cable "pigtails" (RG-316/U) 4 feet long and 0.12" dia. with a cut end, intended for direct solder attachment to the test specimen, and a BNC connector at the other end for connection to the Patch Panel. The bulkhead connectors on the Patch Panel then connect to the larger coax cables connected to the Event Detector. The smaller coax cables, although easy to solder to the test samples, cannot be used for longer runs since their limited shielding quality could admit radiated environmental noise into the test data stream. It is recommended that the Patch Panels be located as close to the samples as possible and the length of the small coaxial cables be as short as reasonably possible (recommended maximum: 3 feet). The 32EHD Patch Panel Kit is essential for vibration tests and generally very beneficial for oven-based testing. These smaller coax cables are rated to 200°C.
The Patch Panel Kit Includes:
(2) Anodized Aluminum Patch Panels with 16 female/female bulkhead connectors on each
(32) RG-316/U flexible coaxial "pigtail" cables (length: 4 feet, 200°C max.)
