Event Detectors are used for reliability testing of solder joints, electrical connectors, and electrical interconnects based on continuous, electrical resistance monitoring during accelerated aging or stress testing. New interconnect developments, such as lead-free-solder technology, require reliability qualification testing to avoid premature in-field-product-failures. Event Detectors perform continuous electrical monitoring for short-duration resistance variations on large numbers of channels. Event Detectors do not use channel scanning but instead perform continuous monitoring in compliance with IPC SM 785, IPC-9701, and JESD 22-B111 test standards. This type of testing is vital to interconnect-reliability testing in the telecommunications, computer, automotive, aerospace, and medical industries.
